THERAPY SERVICES

Individual Therapy

You have survived, despite everything. And yet, there are days when you struggle to know what true happiness, contentment feels like. The early experiences that you overcame and survived - they still haunt you.  In therapy we can together explore how the past is continuing to impact you. All of us see the world and ourselves through the lens of past experiences. The challenge is when these past experiences color the present moment in ways that leaves you feeling stuck. Old patterns may be repeating and old ways of responding are not feeling authentic nor effective anymore.

Many of my client's have experienced significant trauma. Many identify their parents as having had mental health issues including mood disorders, substance use and narcissistic personality traits. Many have either experienced or have witnessed emotional abuse between family members. These adult clients often have complex feelings towards these figures, including guilt, anger, shame. At times their own needs and feelings seem invalid.

Our work together can honor the pain you have carried around so long, explore and eventually accept the various complex feelings and nurture the resilience and strength that has brought you so far. We can build new skills together, strengthen existing ones and with gentleness, nudge the coping habits that have served their purpose. You don't have to walk this path alone. I hope you find the right therapist who can partner with you - witnessing your journey and guiding you towards the future where you are feeling more at peace with life, empowered in the present and liberated from the past. This is possible, let no one, including yourself, tell you otherwise.

Young Adults

Older teenagers and adults in their early twenties are navigating a most interesting chapter of life. There are so many doors opening, new experiences and the thrills that come with them. Often, these new experiences and new opportunities mean saying goodbye to familiar roles, familiar routines. Navigating these changes can be difficult at times, bringing up complex feelings. Talking about this with your friends helps, but at times you feel the need for more. You may want a safe space to talk about these thoughts and feelings, where you don't have to worry about being judged. I can help you on your journey as you evolve into becoming an adult. Therapy can be your safe, private space where you can share what is on your mind and explore the mixed feelings brought by changes. You can reflect on your existing coping skills and include new ones that may help you in this new phase. The power of having a meaningful connection with someone who is listening in an empathic way, without judgement. That safe space is not just contained in those 50 minutes, you end up carrying that warmth, developing a gentleness towards yourself that can feel so empowering. Reach out to me to discuss how I can support you in enjoying this unique time of life.

It is a joy to stay hidden and a disaster not to be found.
