Can I justify spending on therapy?
What does untreated Depression or Anxiety cost? Just in terms of lost productivity, the costs are huge to the person, family and the economy. The emotional cost on families of depressed or anxious people cannot be measured. How does one factor in the cost of unhappy relationships, failed friendships, low self esteem and inadequate self care?
Poor financial decisions are usually made when one is anxious and depressed. When a person is feeling calm and fulfilled, they are able to look at long term financial health, and the decisions made are more reflective than reactionary. So many of us spend time and money on soothing ourselves with materialistic goods, and yet feel hollow and uneasy.
One of the rewards of spending time and money on psychotherapy, beyond the immediate improvement in relationships, is a more conscious life. Acting in alignment with your values helps you be intentional in how you treat yourself and others, enabling you to consider and implement long term goals and plans – whether personal and family, work-life balance, health, parenting, or long term financial planning.
What if I need to cancel?
When we have a time set aside for you, that is your time until you choose to give it up and you are financially responsible for the time.
In case of a need to cancel, I ask you to please give me at least 48 hours notice. Late cancellations and no shows are charged the full fee.
Do you take insurance?
No, I do not take insurance. I am a provider with Lyra if that is a benefit offered by your employer.
Please note: At this moment I am not providing superbills. So if you plan to submit out of network claims, I will not be able to assist you with that.
Where will we meet?
We will be meeting virtually, on a HIPPA complaint platform. Once we connect, I will share the details including the mutually decided time, day and the secure link to the video session.
Do you meet in person too?
The pandemic has tested us all in many ways and a common feature of our lives has been adaptability. In my experience, clients find they now prefer virtual sessions as it allows them more flexibility around scheduling. Teletherapy has not gotten in the way of forming a strong bond and doing effective work together.
Good Faith Estimate
You are entitled to receive this “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for psychotherapy services provided to you. While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know, in advance, how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services from the provider, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here.
This Good Faith Estimate is not intended to serve as a recommendation for treatment or a prediction that you may need to attend a specified number of psychotherapy visits. The number of visits that are appropriate in your case, and the estimated cost for those services, depends on your needs and what you agree to in consultation with your therapist. You are entitled to disagree with any recommendations made to you concerning your treatment and you may discontinue treatment at any time.
The fee for a 45minute psychotherapy visit (via telehealth) is $200-$250. Most clients will attend one psychotherapy visit per week, but the frequency of psychotherapy visits that are appropriate in your case may be more or less than once per week, depending upon your needs. Based upon a fee of $200 per visit, if you attend one psychotherapy visit per week, your estimated charge would be $ 800 for four visits provided over the course of one month; $1600 for eight visits over two months; or $2400 for 12 visits over three months. If you attend therapy for a longer period, your total estimated charges will increase according to the number of visits and length of treatment.
You have a right to initiate a dispute resolution process if the actual amount charged to you substantially exceeds the estimated charges stated in your Good Faith Estimate (which means $400 or more beyond the estimated charges).
You are encouraged to speak with your provider at any time about any questions you may have regarding your treatment plan, or the information provided to you in this Good Faith Estimate.
